Since you’re here, would you consider supporting my stray animal rescue efforts? I care for 100+ stray cats and several dogs in Istanbul, providing them with food, medical care, spay/neuter services, and shelter. My mission is to reduce their suffering and give them a safe life.
Your support on Buy Me a Coffee or Patreon can help me continue feeding, rescuing, and treating these animals. Every little contribution makes a difference!
Thank you in advance for your kindness!
I take care of over 100 stray cats and 20+ stray dogs in Istanbul: feeding, rescuing, and providing medical care. My efforts were featured in Newsweek: “Man Unwittingly Rescues Pregnant Cat – Winds Up Taking Care of 100 Strays”.The Dolmabahçe Clock Tower is a historic landmark located outside Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul, Turkey. Commissioned by Ottoman Sultan Abdülhamid II (1842-1918), the tower was designed by court architect Sarkis Balyan and constructed between 1890 and 1895. Positioned in front of the Treasury Gate, the tower stands on a square along the European shoreline of the Bosphorus, adjacent to Dolmabahçe Mosque. Built in the Ottoman neo-Baroque style, the four-sided, four-story structure occupies a base area of 8.5 × 8.5 meters (28 × 28 feet) and rises to a height of 27 meters (89 feet). The clock mechanism was crafted by the renowned French clockmaker Jean-Paul Garnier and installed by court clock master Johann Mayer. Its face is adorned with highly stylized Eastern Arabic numerals. In 1979, the original mechanical system was partially converted to an electrical one. Two sides of the tower prominently display the tughra (imperial monogram) of Sultan Abdülhamid II, reflecting its royal heritage.
