This morning (Sunday, February 23, 2025), Istanbul was once again covered in heavy snowfall (it has been snowing since Wednesday). Belgrad Forest (Belgrade Forest), which is just a 5-minute walk from my home, looks stunning under the snow. So, I decided to head there to take some photos. As always, Belgrad Forest did not disappoint – it was breathtakingly beautiful under the snow-covered landscape.

This sweet pup is one of the many strays I feed, protect, and provide medical care for in Istanbul. Every day, I ensure they have food, shelter, and the care they need to survive. If you’d like to support me in feeding and helping these animals, especially with food and medical aid, you can donate via my [Buy Me a Coffee] or [Patreon] accounts. Every contribution makes a difference!

The snow-covered houses near the Belgrade ForestTopuzlu Bendi (Topuzlu Dam) was built in 1619 by Ottoman Sultan Ahmed I and is known as Turkey’s first dam. It took its final form during the reign of Mahmud II. The dam is made of earth and rock fill and stands 9.91 meters (32.5 feet) high with a length of approximately 65 meters (212 feet). It has a water capacity of 70,000 cubic meters (70,000 tons).
